Substantial quantity of unsorted material relating to the life and works of Alec Clunes the actor, diaries, journals, scrapbooks, programmes, correspondence, etc. contained in several boxes including original artwork for Clunes's theatre productions and his early road tours of Europe, to include considerable material to do with the operation of The Arts Theatre Club. Clunes was born in 1912, first performed at The Old Vic - subsequent traditional roles on stage and screen - a contemporary of Olivier and Gielgud. Sadly he died in 1970 and his role particularly that of the post-war theatre has not been fully researched.
