The contents were highly radical in nature, relating to public affairs - 'deemed interesting to every man who has a stake in the welfare of his country.' The first and longest letter is signed 'J H Stone'. In it Stone invites Priestley at some future time to return to England - 'Such as England will be then'. Without the half title.
