From Arundel Castle: an 18th century Dutch walnut bombe commode, with shaped top above four graduated drawers and paw feet, the top 87cm wide. 
Provenance: given in 1959 by the 16th Duke of Norfolk to the vendor's grandfather who was the Duke's racehorse trainer.

The handles are old and look good but there are old filled in holes in the drawer fronts and holes within the drawer which indicate that the handles are a later replacement.
Large splits, repairs and stains to the top.
Quite large splits to both sides.
Moulding loss in various places to the drawer fronts.
A speckling of woodworm to lower sides, woodworm to front legs, woodworm to drawer bearers, woodworm to part of the frame, none of which appears to effect the strength and integrity of the chest.
