An interesting and unusual carved chalcedony or rock crystal intaglio, possibly Roman, mounted in an unmarked high carat yellow metal ring, inscribed 'Given by the Marquefs D'Archimbaud to H Ph Hope in the year 1810', 32 x 26mm oval, 11.9g total weight.
Henry Phillip Hope (1774- 1839) was part of an Anglo Dutch banking family and original owner of The Hope Diamond.
